Matt,
if your flex hose has burst, and brake lines are any indication, all later
Datsuns starting from the 510 (68/69) went to metric end fittings, so they are
not a swap-out part.   You didn't mention the year/model of your car.
If you take your existing hose to a industrial hydraulic hose vendor, they can
usually make one in 20 minutes or so, either with new end fittings or using
your old ones (sometimes).
Of course our vendors have them too, and ship pronto.

the "start the car in gear" routine is hard on things, but you can shift out
of first gear, you just have to "match speeds", which results in a little
grinding while you are learning, but you get better pretty quickly.
