Mine is actually plumbed in to the big water trap rather than the tank. I
get hardly any water in the tank but lots in the trap. Basically, if it's
automatic and helps any at all it's a good thing.

compressor repair fellow that they "were no good" because the air needs
to cool in the tank before the water will condense out, but I figured
that while that may be true, the next time the compressor runs it will
get rid of that moisture, which is more often than most compressors get
drained.
