Sounds like I missed an awesome weekend at mid-Ohio.  Great job!  I hope to
see some of you at VTR.  So, the critical question is.... What is the date
for next year's Mid-Ohio event?
Now that my new TR3 engine is up and running I'll be autocrossing the car in
mid-July with a local Porsche club.  I am also starting to think about some
track time.  This would be instructional on-track training, not racing.
Unfortunately, (or fortunately, in reality) my open car must have a roll
bar.  My car HAD a frame mounted, double hoop roll bar which was removed
sometime before I bought it.  The frame rail still has the remnants of the
dual hoops.  (no log book though)
I am thinking about installing a single hoop removable roll bar which would
come up through the occasional seat.  Removable because my wife uses the car
to cart the kids around town on a regular basis and a permanent bar will be
a kid head banger, as well as not fit in with the normal usage the car sees
as a street car.
As a Mechanical Engineer, roll bar design seems pretty straight forward.
Before I reinventing the wheel though, has anyone every fabricated a
removable roll bar for a post 60,000 TR3A and still have drawings or
recommend (or have) a shop that can do the fabrication for me?  I can either
have it installed by a local welder or get my old Miller Thunderbolt Arc
welder working again.  Also, where can I find good guidelines for the
materials, thickness and diameters of pipe to use?
The bottom line is, what is the best way for me to get a decent (removable)
roll bar into my car at a reasonable price?
