Stress risers aside, I've been told the shoulder bolts might be a little bit stronger. I know bolts tend to break at the minor diameter of the thread, so I don't know why a shoulder would add strength, but my machinist buddy says they do if the shoulders nearly bottom. Sounds goofy to me, but he swears it's true. |
