Yea...I opened the trailer and unloaded just 3 weeks ago...it
hurt. But that's racing and I did met almost all my goals. I had fun, I
made it to the show on my rookie year running Nationals, I didn't grid last
and scents I didn't crash first I didn't (NOT) finish last. And as a plus I
was tied for 7 fastest thru the speed trap at 123.??? (I forgot). out of 40
on the grid.
All 13 hours will be on Speedvision on Christmas day. The EP
race is the second from the last race on the first day.
The start was 3 & 4 abreast going into the first turn (6). Sam
Halkias had girded 6th ( I think) and was charging for 3rd at turn 10 "a",
setting up for 11, when he hooked a wheel on the inside gatter curbing and
spun center track. This checked up everyone, nose to tail. I had girded at
30th and had moved up to 20th by the time I crested the hill at 10 and came
into the mess. I was the center of three, with nowhere to go but hold center
track. Sam was hit and limped along for a few more laps before retiring.
The Alfa to my left started a slow spin. I had hoped to make it by
before he completed, but as he came perpendicular to me his wheels hooked up
and he drove into my left rear and removed my wheel. I spun off and he
continued his spin only to be driven over by the 240z that had been on my
right. The blue 240z is the only one to get (TV) air time as he limps to the
pit with his wheel sticking up in the air.
BTW, the rear trailing arm ripped exactly ware it was expected
to,,,SOOO it now sits repaired with a full tank of gas and one heat cycle
on the tires. The finder will be repainted and We'll be ready to go.
I had been told of all the people that stopped by my paddock to
check on Sam and I, will I was in the bone yard. And a few that specifically
had mentioned FOT, Thank you AMICI.
                Happy Holidays
                    David W.
