Lumpy & Ebay

For those of you have followed my occassional requests about a TR2
longdoor racecar, it may surprise you that "Lumpy" will appear on Ebay this
afternoon. The name Lumpy came from the relatively amateur restoration that was
done on it some years ago to fix body panel damages from rust and dents. The
poor
red amateur paint that follow it did little to cover up the mistakes made
with the body filler.

Lumpy came to me with the legend that it was once raced. This was a
legend that I tracked through three previous owners, none of whom could provide
any details and two of which have now passed away. Lumpy's racing history, if
it ever existed at all, is probably not ever going to be discovered. However,
the floor marks from a roll bar, the engine hood that lifts entire off, and
the replacement of all the mechanicals to TR3 parts, suggest that someone had
fun with this car. It also has enogu minor dents that suggest that it was
driven hard.

Lumpy has probably provided me with unexpected fun, even though I
never got around to restoring or racing it, as any car that I have ever owned.
It
caused me to seek out some of the older TR2 and TR3 racers, which enriched me
with many racing stories, particularly about the grassroots racing by guys
whose names will most likely be forgotten.

For anyone interesting in a car with character

There a part of me that hopes that the reserve is not met - that would
most certainly a sign from on high that Lumpy should be kept.
