Interesting discussion bashing Lucas distributors. I see nothing wrong
with Iowa!

I've rebuilt quite a few Lucas distributors over the years and have found
most of them
pretty messed up from feeble attempts to repair them. Bill's catapult
comments are
somewhat deserved. After all, best case is that the units are at least 28
years old.

After trying several configurations (Lucas straight centrifugal w/ solid
points plate, Mallory
dual point and re-curved stock TR6) in my TR6, I settled on a recurved GT6
Delco unit
which I converted to dual points (2nd set to increase coil charge time).
Point bounce hasn't
been an issue at high revs and the 2nd set of points keeps the spark hot.
A much stronger
unit than the Lucas but not as simple to rebuild properly and a pain to
re-curve. Still use the
Lucas centrifugal in my street TR250 (injected). I should mention that I
own an Allen Distributor
bench to play with!

175 CD Strombergs also adorn my TR6 with zero problems!!!!

OK Babcock,

Using Lucas Components and Strombergs.....

It's like living in Iowa.

I like Iowa, I just dont know any better.

Besides it's a good place to raise a Triumph.
