Yes.  If the cage is already welded to the chassis with body in place, 
powdercoating the cage will really mess up your paint job (and electrics, 
plastics, wood dash, etc, etc, etc).

Powdercoaters usually heat the powder on large jobs in a walk-in oven, which 
means they would push the whole car inside and heat it to 400 degrees for 30 
mins.

Can you say melt-down?

Now presuming that you meant a bolt-in cage, then go ahead and powdercoat 
away; just make sure they do not coat over the pipe wall-thickness 
inspection hole.
