I'd like to nominate Dennis and Nancy Smith for membership on this list.
Dennis & Nancy, of Concordia, Ks., are the RE and secretary of Salina Region
SCCA. Mostly they're Mustang nuts, but last September I invited them to
co-drive my Spitfire at the Solo Nationals to help boost the numbers in G
Prepared. We really needed to get 17 GP/GPL entrants for the class to remain
alive, and with them co-driving me we had 18!
But then ... they enjoyed the experience so much they went right out and
bought a GP Spitfire of their own! What's more, it came already equipped with
a big Amici Triumphi sticker on it, so I guess they need to be on this list.
Not sure who they got it from, but it's a black/yellow #89. When Dennis asked
me to look at the eBay listing, I told him the spares pile alone was worth the
asking price of the car. He's already got another engine being built from
those spares.
(And with some engine problems I've been having, I haven't beaten them yet
this year! Grrr! Oh, well, we'll fix that.)
