My papers say I can tow 1800 kg.
The cars weight is 1000 kg
The trailer 650 kg
So I can carry 150 kg spares around in the trailer and some spares and
equipment in the tow car.

An X3 is good for 3748 pounds according to the guides

That is about the same as my Dodge Caravan 3800 pounds.
You still need a light weight trailer to tow a car that weighs about 2000
pounds plus spares, tools etc.

I use a simple petrol injected BMW X3 for towing. 200 HP doing well enough.
