Hi Rick,

=20

it doesn=E2=80=99t bother me. I=E2=80=99m always amazed what people =
putting to their engines and cars and I listen to the reasons why.

I=E2=80=99m many times question myself if I should put these things to =
my car. On the other hand, as long it doesn=E2=80=99t have a problem, =
I=E2=80=99d better leave it alone.

The lesser parts a car has, the lesser parts can fail.

Cheers

Hey Chris, remind me to never post pictures of the inside of my engines =
if the main cap strap bothers you, haha.

=20

As an FYI, from my experience the center main cap is not the problem its =
the center main web that's sketchy so adding a strap may keep the center =
main cap from coming apart if it splits but it has no effect on =
stability. I am sure some one some where at sometime has spit a center =
main and that's probably what started the whole strap thing, don't get =
me wrong I am not poo pooing the idea just trying to shed a little light =
into the darkness of the dreaded tractor motors.

Crack at the rear head bolt? If you are talking about the threads that =
hold in the head stud I once had a block that was good other than one =
corner stud hole having a crack that radiated into the liner opening. =
Cause the head to move around at that corner and resulted in head gasket =
problems. It was corrected with the Timesert, basically a threaded =
insert style of thread replacement. The machine shop that did it pinned =
in place with wedges and that required a little JB Weld to keep the =
water in check.

Well it=E2=80=99s finally time to build a new motor... the crack at the =
rear head bolt just won=E2=80=99t stop leakin anymore...so...
I=E2=80=99ve found the Chevy front strap to use on the center main, but =
what are you using for main bolts/studs for the additional length?
How about a complete set of fasteners for the mains? Does ARP make =
anything?
