Hi all,

I am making a set of wooden strips for a fellow Healey enthusiast and
have a quick question.

I have looked at my original wooden strips, which are off the car as I
am in a long term restoration of my BJ8 (that is another whole story),
and they are painted black. Were the original wooden strips painted
black or just left unpainted with some sort of varnish on them?

My original wooden strips are in good condition, although a bit warped.
What is the consensus, would it be better to keep the original ones or
make new ones? It would be just as easy for me to make 2 sets at the
same time.

Anybody know what the original wood might have been? I was thinking of
using ash, or maple.

Cheers,
Richard
