Don,
I think most original Healeys have rubber mounted exhaust system hangers
& a flex section in the down pipe. If these are not missing, the exhaust
must be contacting the body or frame metal somewhere other than at the
flex hangers only. Look for possible contact places & adjust/bend as needed.
