Kurt,
Aspects of the original Healey Blue nitrocellulose laquer paint formula are
no longer available. In fact laquer itself has been virtually outlawed by
the environmentalists.
Therefore there are excellent equivalent colour matchings available today in
much better quality paint systems than laquer or enamel. Speak to a good
local paint supplier for further information and optional paint systems you
can use. The original BMC paint code was designated "BU2".
All the inner chassis assembly, everything welded to the chassis, and all
the body assembly including fasteners and inner front splash panels (beside
front wheels) should be Healey Blue. However, no suspension, mechanical
parts or the inner front radiator air ducts should be blue.
Today's tough quality paints will stand up in the wheel wells, etc. just
fine. With quality paint it's an easy task to periodically remove road tar,
etc. from a smooth glossy painted surface.
