"If you're ambitious, you could get a pressure guage rigged up to screw into 
the operating valve, and measure the accumulator pressure.  It should read 
about 460-480 psi with drivetrain moving, and when the car is shut off, it 
should be slow (several hours) to bleed off this pressure."

A while back I made up O/D oil pressure gauges for my own use and since 
the machine shop work was about the same cost for 1 vs 15, I have a few
