Hello Robert

I have a Allison xr700 on my 100/6, no problems in 15 years 

Purple wire-Ground/chassis
Red wire-Coil positive +
Black wire-Coil negative -

+12 volts from Ignition switch to Ceramic Balast resistor
Othe side of Balast resistor to Coil positive +
