Hi, John -

There are registrars in the USA for all the Healey models. The ones endorsed
by AHCA and AHC USA are identified here:
http://www.serve.com/AHCA/ahcareg.htm and
http://www.healey.org/other-registries.shtml. Exactly how active each
registry is depends mostly on the energy each registrar wants to devote to it.
I personally have a passion for the subject and consequently devote a lot of
effort to making the BJ8 registry a useful and valuable resource for BJ8
owners. Other registrars may not be so passionate or active and some of them
seem to be hard to get hold of, or difficult to get useful information out
of.
There are also similar registers (or registries, as we tend to call them) in
the UK for the various models, and I'm sure someone will provide a link to
those.

Why not have one worldwide integrated registry for each model? Makes sense,
doesn't it? The potential value of a registry is in direct proportion to the
number of existing cars it captures, and to the specific details collected.
The actual value is realized depending on the willingness of the individual
registrar to use the information for the benefit of owners.

The fragmented nature of the registries is well-recognized, and there is an
effort currently underway to investigate ways to remedy that. The big problem
is the issue of control of the information, and privacy. The various USA
Healey clubs collect owner's names and car VINs from people as they join the
clubs. That information becomes club "property", and due to concerns about
privacy and loss of control it becomes difficult to share that with other
organizations. In the case of the UK registers, the privacy laws in the UK
prohibit release of personal information without prior consent of the
individual -- obviously not practical for a wholesale exchange of data leading
to integration into one registry.

Cheers!

  Hi,

with all the talk about a Healey registry lately, I certainly can see the
benefits. All I have seen on the thread is ths BJ8 Registry. Where can we
register earlier 3000 models? and for the other listers...other models as
  well?

  Thanks in advance,
