Hi Ned,

I installed seat belts last year in my BJ8, using the original bolts located 
below the floor pan, where you describe.

I used the original style Eye-Bolts which came with the Moss Motors "Hook 
Mount" seat belt set. After cleaning and chasing the threads in the floor 
mounted 
bolts, the Moss Eye-Bolts screwed straight in. I can't recall the diameter, 
but they were a perfect fit; no modification required.
