Gary,
I agree with Jim. The Hemphill's Phoenix SS header (from AH Spares)
will accomodate a standard tri-carb setup with stock heat shield. It's a
bit pricey, but the best-fitting header I've put on a Healey and you don't
have to pay $200+ to coat it.

Subject: stainless steel header

I am trying to locate a source for a stainless steel exhaust header for a
friend. The car is a left hand drive, BJ8 fitted with three HS6 SU's. Both AH
Spares & SC Parts offer a stainless steel header made by Phoenix. However, AH
Spares catalog says it will fit three carbs, but SC Parts catalogs says it
will
not fit three carbs! I have contacted both of them & after much discussion
they
both now state that they aren't really sure whether or not it will fit with
three SU carbs. Phoenix indicates they built the header to fit a standard two
carb with log intake manifold setup, but it might fit three SU's, too!
Is there another source for stainless steel exhaust headers, or have any of
you actually fitted the Phoenix stainless steel header to a three SU carb car?
We are aware of the option of having a steel header coated.
Thanks,
Gary Hodson
