Hello James,
The internal splines in the overdrive are out of phase.
To rectify this you have to line them up with a long probe inside the 
overdrive.
Afterwards remember that you can only rotate the rear drive flange in a 
anti-clockwise rotation, the other way you will loose the phasing once more.

Don't forget to hold the pump plunger down as far as it will go with the 
drawire too, until you have almost bolted completely up then remove, [ this 
locates the pump operating plunger over the operating cam on the 
mainshaft ].
