Peter,
Yes, there has been confirmation of Fred's death. He will be greatly
missed by the 100S and Healey historical investigation communities.
The video that was done that had a lot of shots of his car being
investigated by Geoff Healey was nicely done but I don't think Fred was
even visible in it. 
There must be an appropriate Burma-Shave saying for him somewhere.
