Breda,

When I ordered a concours grade British Wiring harness a few years ago and
compared it to my oily crusty original harness I found many discrepancies. The
worst problem was with the OD harness. The original used 28 strand wire and the
replacement was 14 strand wire. BW did not believe me at first (they claimed to
have made 100's of harness like this) but photographic proof was offered.

To their credit, they had a 28 strand harness made for me during the next
production run and took care of most of the other discrepancies.

Anyway, you and others should be on the lookout for this since a lighter gage
harness may end up with melted wires like you experienced.

Cheers,
John
