Half Shafts

Gentlemen,

 

I am looking for some advice:

 

 I believe that I have a worn/loose rear half-shaft...when I put the parking
brake on, I can still rotate the rear left wheel about 1" in each direction
and get a "clunking noise when driving the car.

 

I assume that the "slop" is coming from the spline at the end of the
half-shaft and the "differential wheel" that the half-shaft slides into.

 

I would love some input from the members regarding experience with this
repair.
