All the tubes I've removed have been through the top. I guess you could get
the adjustable one through the bottom once you took the assembly out of the
car, but you'd have to raise the car a lot to get it out installed.

I take that back. You should be able to remove the stator tube through the
steering wheel for the adjustable wheel. Use the harness to pull with, or if
the
harness has been removed, use the short stator tube.
