Hi Dick,

Thanks for your input.

The car is used in Hill Climbs and occasional vintage track racing as well
as fast street so it does not need to "hang" at 6k+ rpm for extended
periods.

The gearing is 4.1:1 which will allow me to stay in the power range for
longer periods.

The reason that I wanted to lighten the rods and crank was to reduce the
reciprocating stress in the engine as well as faster revving....but I don't
want to do it at the expense of strength and durability.

Following up on your stock suggestion, that was where I was going.....put
the money into dynamic balancing, superlight flywheel and a very high
quality harmonic balancer....shotpeen and nitrate the rods and use
lightweight pistons.

IIRC, the last time I got my crank wedged, I had taken everything off! :-)

But more seriously, if I may ask, where, and in what gear, do you see
yourself turning 6500 RPM, on the "street"? In 1st, it is just vehicle
abuse, and in 2nd, it would be illegal. If you are going to the drag strip,
that probably isn't the most efficient point to shift, anyhow.

Hollywood Sports Cars campaigned an extremely capable, and very durable,
3000 in the mid-sixties, which used the stock rods and crank, but they had
been VERY VERY carefully balanced and polished, so, it IS possible.
