Hi Jack,
Just a thought, could the transmission tie rod be misadjusted? Making the
fan hit the radiator on deceleration.

Hi All, we're looking for feedback on a horrible driveline noise. There
is a BJ8 engine and transmission with o.d. in a BN7 Mk1. This is a new
installation and we are in the road test stage. The transmission and
overdrive are the unknown factors here as we were instructed by the
owner that the trans/od were "good" and to install them as-is. Anyway,
there is no unusual drive line noise until you let off the gas and the
car begins to slow down. The noise is terrific in any gear. It's a
sound similar to dragging a screwdriver tip on a grinding wheel. Here's
what we've investigated so far: There is no sign of anything rubbing or
dragging anywhere. Both Ujoints are new and "feel" good. The Ebrake
cable is clear. The diff has been removed and looked at by a local
differential guru who says it's just fine. Still, the trans/od is the X
factor. Could anyone imagine that such a horrible noise could come from
that?? Oh yes, everything had the proper lubricant levels. Sheesh...
Many Thanks,

Jack
