Hi David. After reading all your dad's articles in Tech Talk, and some
material on an early MG site, I've determined that my control box (voltage
regulator) is not functioning properly. I just ordered one from John today.
(I had my generator tested when I did the engine a year ago, and it is
putting out sufficient juice.) I recognize that the two gauges measure
different parameters; it seems like having both could be added benefit, with
the volt meter monitoring the battery charge, but maybe it's not worth the
cost, assuming I could find a volt meter that looked right. Years ago, my
old Celica had a volt meter, and I noticed that it dropped to about 11 - 12
volts, and was able to replace the battery before getting stranded, so I
think they can be of benefit.
