Ahhhhh,   I think I know this one........The D  and the  S.






But seriously folks.    The D type have a rubber diaphragm on the jet,
and the S does not use one.    Personally I prefer the HS cause the 
diaphrams tend to get brittle , crack, leak on the D type.   I had a new set 
dry up from just sitting for 2 years undisturbed, on my Healey.  Glad I 
decided to tear the carbs down again for inspection.

The HS seem to be pretty bullet proof and a bit easier to adjust,  for me 
anyway.
