Hi Gary, We used to mig weld all our shrouds until we bought a Tig welder,
which is the way to go. However if you have a mig welder and want to try...
make sure you have your shroud sandblasted not chemically dipped. The
aluminium wire will go through a 10 ft liner. use 035 wire with 040 tip.
Practise, practise, practise. the repair should be done on the car. If you
call me I can give you further explanation on how to do this.905-854-3555

My aluminum shroud has been with an individual who does some bodywork/TIG
welding on the side for several months without any progress.

I was thinking about retrieving it and attempt to weld with my MIG welder,
using the proper gas and wire of course.

Does anyone on the list have personal experience doing this. If so, were
you successful and what are the pitfalls?
