Hello, Healeyphiles -

While doing some cleaning out of my garage today, I came across the original
boot lock assembly for my BJ8. I removed it 25 years ago because the tip of
the pot metal escutcheon was broken off.
I would like to remove the lock cylinder part of the assembly and install it
in my current boot lock. Does anyone know if, and how, this is possible?
The handle has a square shaft that goes through a metal cup and which
appears to be swaged to hold the cup in place (probably against spring
pressure). I can grind off the swage with a Dremel, and then tack weld the
assembly back in place once I remove the handle and lock, but is there an
easier way to do it?

Pete?

Thanks,
Steve Byers
