Thanks all.
I took all connections apart and Emory clothed them. Then I replaced some very
old original looking fuses.
Then I realized the ground strap to the battery was loose on the terminal.
After all that voila! i had brake lights. Yip!
I have no idea really what cured it. I also have a stronger turn signal light.
This wiring is all original so I suppose
the connections just got weak.
