I believe all this talk is regarding the splintering effect of solid wood
vs. plywood....FWIW the BJ8 dash is in fact made of multi thin layers of
plywood with a final upper veneer.

I suspect that if you are involved in an accident in a Healey so bad it
splinters that wood you have other injury concerns to worry about.
