Have faith Simon, It will work.
I've never been a fan of "mechanics in a can" but have to admit that I have
used such products with great success in the past.
When the time comes to replace the plugs visit a marine supply company and
purchase brass plugs like the ones on this page.

Despite Kees skepticism these work very well and never corrode out as the
steel ones are want to do after many years, that is why they are used in
engines cooled with salt water.
