Graeme,

It was just the brakes and it wasn=C2=B4t a real improvement, as the new Du=
nlop=20
disc brakes which were used were somewhat tricky in usage, especially in=20
the wet. A couple of years ago I was close to buy one of these 100/6s which=
=20
was for sale.

I like these kind of "very specifics". But I think its only for those who=
=20
enjoy something special and are not looking for a daily driver.

In the book Austin-Healey A celebration of the fabulous "Big" Healey by=20
Bill Piggott he writes on page 79 about the "Rare disc braked 100-Six" The=
=20
author even owned one of these cars in the mid-1980's.

He also claims that there were 50 or so cars equipped with Dunlop disc=20
brakes all around, sometimes in the autumn of 1957. These cars were built=
=20
around the time that the Austin-Healey production was being transferred=20
from Longbridge to Abingdon and that apparently the brake conversion was=20
performed by the Healey factory at Warwick.

He further adds that Tommy Wisdom 1957 Mille Miglia 100-Six (UOC741) had=20
Dunlop discs fitted all round, so presumably these cars carried a=20
development of that car's braking system.

I want to throw a cat amongst the pigeons for your consideration/advice.

Up until yesterday I believed that the only Healey=E2=80=99s to ever come o=
ut with=20
disk brakes prior to there introduction on
the 3000 MK 1 was on the 100S model and possibly a few Specials
=20
Trawling the net yesterday to see if I could find the contact details for a=
=20
Healey guy I came across a posting buy
Joe Jarrick the 100 S guru who lives here in Aust.that indicates that there=
=20
were a least 40 late 1957 BN 4=E2=80=99s maybe
even 50 that were produced at either Warwick or maybe Longbridge that were=
=20
equipped with 4 Wheel  Disk Brakes
prior to leaving the factory. It also appears that a conversion kit was=20
available from the dealers at the time
=20
A quick look through  a number of the usual reference books that I have=20
including Geoff Healey=E2=80=99s and Bill Emerson=E2=80=99s
books and Roger Moments Restoration Guide makes no reference to there ever=
=20
being a 100/4 with disk brakes as
standard equipment
=20
What say you, does anyone know anything about this claim and maybe there=20
are a few more secrets out there we
don=E2=80=99t know about
=20
