Listers
Visited a repair shop the other day and the owner, who happen to have multi=
ple Healeys in the shop, asked a question. As we went to the back of the sh=
op he uncovered a 3000 block that had several large cracks that ran fore an=
d aft about =C2=BC inch from the edge of the head to block mating surface.=
=20
I studied it for awhile and responded that I had not seen this previously. =
It did appear that the block had been decked or milled to flatten the deck =
surface but there was no way to know how much material had been removed. Th=
e cracks definitely were deep enough to open the water passages in the bloc=
k to the top of the block surface. The owner stated that the coolant leaked=
 out from the joint between the head and block profusely and I could see w=
hy.=20
Has anybody else seen this before? Unfortunately I did not take a photo of=
 the block.=20
Thanks
Perry
