I bought a used Snap On digital timing light (MT2261) and in the 
instructions is "solid core and some special application aftermarket 
spark plug wires can cause improper operation of the timing light".  The 
suggested fix is to replace the #1 wire with a standard television radio 
suppression spark plug wire.

It didn't work well with bumblebee wires.

The instructions also say that the light works on positive or negative 
ground.
