If it is a manual car there is no problem at all in hilly country as you have 
high and low gear to play with. Automatics can pull a bit less but there should 
not be a problem really. In Europe Subaru's are very sought after by the 
caravan crowd because of their permanent 4 wheel drive and ample pulling power, 
with or without turbo, 4 or 6 cylinder, diesel or petrol, be it Impreza, 
Forester, Legacy, Outback.

Concerning brakes, I may hope that the trailer has its own properly functioning 
braking system, as it should.

Load on the hatch should be around 50-75kg.
