Hi Bob,
This is a long shot, but it may be a British Standard Cycle (BSC) thread
size, as there are a few BSC fasteners on a Healey. There is a size that
measures 1.2" across the flats, which is close to your measurement.
Opening up a 1-1/8" wrench would likely be much easier than finding a BSC
wrench.
