John,
We can't do anything about some fixed costs but hotel rooms Sunday thru
Thursday nights are $24.95 at the Stateline and Silversmith and if you ask
in advance you can get two breakfasts included in that price. The Rainbow
casino will also give you a very good price if you tell them you are coming
for the races. None of the Speedweek increases that I know of. The Days
Inn will guarantee a $49.95 rate for racers any three days in a row if you
ask for Mr. Reece and tell him you are a racer. If you stay over a week end
that works out to be a great deal too. If you humble yourself and drive
something economical like I did to Pebble Beach...2500 miles at 33.7 mpg in
my 81 VW Convertable w/Audi 80 engine. I do run premium gas and in San
Francisco it was $199.9 per gallon. 85 is a comfortable speed across Nevada
except for 100 plus miles of construction zones. I was not towing a race
car however.
