| An important point is under review here. Grade 5 fasteners are hardened carbon steel. Grade 8 fasteners are hardened alloy steel. Both of them are soft enough to cut with a file or hacksaw. Is it a fact that Grade 8 fasteners break rather than bend, more so than do Grade 5 fasteners??
