Ed, Varsol (Stoddard Solvent) is the standard safe solvent I've used for
40 years. Sold in bulk at many hardware stores. Maybe $2 a gallon, in
your container, around here. Petroleum base, not flammable at normal
temperatures, gives a degree of rust protection but not an oily film.
Some smell, not bad, not real rough on the skin, but does de-grease the
skin thereby irritating it, so chemical gloves are advisable. Cheers
