Early lakes racer and record holder Bob Rufi passed away on May 13, 2002 in
Arroyo Grande. Bob ran a 4 cyl. chevy powered streamliner
setting a record at Harper Dry Lake at 143.54 mph in Aug. of 1940. He was a
member of the Albata club of SCTA. This was the first streamliner over 140
mph.
