Having recently upgraded the hitch on my Jeep to a 2" reciever type I
have a question about locking draw bar pins. I've seen two trailers get
loose recently when the pin retaining the draw bar in the reciever fell out.
(One bass boat went through a fence into the forest, and a larger off-shore
boat took out seven mailboxes and went up a telephone pole.) Weather this
was from carelessness on the owners part or vandalism isn't clear, but the
simple spring clip retainer for this pin seems to be a less than perfect
retention method.
Any recommendations on locking pins to prevent draw bar theft or trailer
loss?
