 Likewise,  many years with CBs, but  the reason I mentioned the 
$29.00 sale model , is  its cheap, small, does what its supposed to
do,  be a reliable means for 2-way communication.
for the rig we take to the salt, and keep in the car trunk.
small & useable...
Got a good sideband CB I use for other serious CB, but its too
big to take in the little car we use now for long drives, fit nice
when we drove a big station wagon or the truck..

another little item, when we drove to the Finals, we noticed 
a lot of areas on the way, where the signal strength of the cell
towers was all over the scale,  since then, we added a magnetic
external cell phone antenna for the car,  keeps the signal from 
dropping out in fringe areas..( about $30. found at many truck stops)
plugs right into the back of the cell phone. (on Nokia models)
(and its NOT that little piece of junk they sell to put inside 
the battery case, as seen on TV)
