There has been a lot of number thrown out on rods without anyone talking about the polarity the rod should be run on. A 6010 and 7018 rod is a DC rod run with the electrode holder on the + side which is reverse polarity. A 6011 is an AC rod. That is the first thing you need to get right. I worked and welded on nuclear powerhouses for years and one think you won't see is pipe welding with a wire feed welder. Tig and stick is it so don't think stick welding is gone by the wayside.
