Just talked to Gary Wilkinson.

He and Gary Allen have been on the salt all day. They drove the two
courses used at Speedweek a week ago and were thinking the short course
was in good enough condition that they could extend it for seven miles.
Today the water has moved from west of the long course until it covers
part of the first mile and one half of the course. The long course is
also still very rough where the water isn't covering it. Water also
has moved onto the short course starting area far enough that it isn't
practical to use that as a course. It could be that there have been
some more thunder storms that hit the mountains and the salt and just
added to the misery. There is enough water at the end of the access
road that you would be going through about a mile of standing water to
get to either course.

The lack of a long course coupled with the price of fuel to get to the
salt tipped the decision making process. They decided it wasn't doing
anyone a favor to try and hold a meet on a shorter course ... so ...
they cancelled!

We had the longest dry spell during July in years after one of the
wettest winters. You'd think that would make for a great course.
WRONG! Dick, Mayf, Skip, Sparky and the rest of you who were planning
on coming ... see you next year!
