    Now I know that you were speaking generally about older cars, but my 1949
Studebaker Champion with a stock flathead six got better mileage than my 1992
Ranger with an EFI DOHC HEI equipped four banger. Both had overdrive.

    I always got a giggle out of that for some reason. Oh yeah - it got more
chicks, too.
