Karl;

There is a somewhat similar passive system that has been around for
years-- the "Accusump" accumulator. It stores pressurized oil from the
engine oil galleys and provides oil pressure when the oil pump is
temporarily starved. By shutting a valve, oil is stored so that it can
be used to pre- lube the system before starting.

I just became aware of Dana's new (don't know how new)
line of electric oil pumps.
They use a standard, 12V power supply, and can have
either brushed or microprocessor-controlled brushless
motors.

Benefits:
 - Engine can be pre-primed prior to firing
 - Pump can run after engine shut-off (turbo bearings)
 - Can even automate oil changes

Would be nice to hear from someone who has used this
type of approach, or knows someone who has.

Thanks.
