I have had a small batch of MG TB/TC Bishop Cam steering box worms/cams and
matching pegs manufactured. The ratio is standard TC, 11/1. The worms/cams
will also suit a TA/PB but slightly slower ( and lighter? ) steering as the
TA/PB ratio is 8/1.
Worms have been carburized hardened to a depth of 0.040 to 0.050" deep.
Worms were quenched and tempered resulting in a case hardness of 63 RC. The
inner splines were masked off and are approximately 42 RC. The pegs were
carburized to a depth of 0.025" to 0.035" , quenched and tempered resulting
in a case hardness of 56 RC. These hardness number match the upper limits of
hardness for original worms. Original worms had a very large variation in
hardness and I have aimed for hardness numbers at the upper range of the
originals.
The pegs were made slightly softer than the worms as they are readily
replaced if necessary.
I have the chemical properties of the base materials if interested.
I am offering these worms and pegs at a combined price of $225.00 US$ a set
plus postage.
I will have a sample worm/peg at the Wolfeville Nova Scotia GOF next week.
If interested or need additional information please email.
Thanks, Bob Grunau
And Bob. I would be interested in a worm with the lower ratio (for a
PB). And needless to say, a matching peg.

Lew Palmer
Tom,
I am investigating having some new Bishop Cam steering box worms
manufactured. Any interst out there for either the 8 to 1 TA ratio or
11 to1 TC ratio?
