Bob,

You may be correct regarding the lengths.  Since the BA threads are in 
actuality a metric thread, I just assumed that the lengths would also be 
metric, but maybe not.  Anyway, the original screw is just shy of 3/8" 
long, while the longer screw is about 1/4" longer.
